As I was choosing the paintings for this art post, Australia was moving into yet another deadly round in the struggle against the Covid virus; thus the subject of “fences” naturally suggested itself. During the past couple of years we have learned a lot about fences, being locked down, locked in and locked out. If the subject of lockdowns had come up more than 3 years ago we would have all said, “That could never happen here!”
A lot of the fences shown in this week’s paintings are enclosing front and back yards. In the past couple of years we have all learned the value of having a yard. Having that little piece of freedom, exclusive to yourself! A place of your own where you can breathe free!
We await the time when life will go back to the (boring) normal that it used to be before we ever had heard of the word Covid! We also look forward to all the friendly hugs we used to experience before we felt the need to keep up the fences between us.
Next Exhibition
My next art exhibition will be held at the Brisbane Institute of Art from 10th to the 23rd November 2022. Send me a note and I’ll remind you before my art show starts. Christine.
