    Step 1

    A coat of blue grey is painted over the white priming.

    The detail of the painting is accurately sketched in while looking carefully at the still life set up.

    Accuracy is necessary as changes are very hard to do later.

    The white of the foreground is painted on in titanium white and the detail of the pattern of the porcelain is applied and then painted.

    The dark background is added.
